Conducting a financial fraud examination is a complex task that can take months to investigate, then prepare the results of the analysis. Typically, I will begin by working with your Fraud Response Team to conduct an initial assessment to determine how long my investigation will take. Depending on the size of the organization, the number of employees, and other mitigating factors, the investigation can take a minimum of 3 months, sometimes longer for a large corporation. Most small businesses or small franchises can take an average of 6 months.
