When walking into a house, the weight of the air in the room can be felt by highly sensitive people. When ghost hunters enter an abandoned location, they use special equipment to detect energy. Just the same, an empath can detect, without special equipment, the energy of a room.
When we absorb the heaviness in the air, our body feels heavy, much the same way when the air is heavy with high humidity, wildfire smoke or pollution making it difficult to breathe. Highly sensitive people feel the lingering energy of snooping, gathering, looking or hiding. We feel a residual energy from the daily routine of a deceased person’s household, the nervous pacing in a hallway, the flow of energy going up or down the steps, and picking up on the side door opening and closing. If highly attuned, we can pinpoint the type of energy and whom it belongs to; i.e., Danny was rummaging through her dresser drawers. We can discern between energy that is looking versus searching, and can feel energy that has a protecting and keeping safe quality.
What can make an empath sick? What is healing to them?
Empaths are drained by violence, negative people, places where negative happenings occurred (such as suicide/murder/assault), and events that incite riots or pandemonium. It is important for these humanitarians to recharge with plenty of rest, Epsom salt and aromatherapy baths. Recharging in isolation with restorative and detoxing tea renews both spirit and mind. Renewing their energy in the sun or with restorative rest are all important pieces of self care. It is recommended that empaths eat food that are high in protein and fiber, get plenty of fluids, rest and exercise or stretching in moderation.
How can an empath use this sensitivity in the workplace?
Having these traits and qualities can exponentially increase chances of business and personal relationship success. Our senses are acutely attuned, activated and focused. We are the source of our survival during times of economic depression and inflation. It’s what makes us stand out from the competition; making us employable and hirable. We are the go-to person for important business decisions, relationship advice, safety and health concerns, and procedural tasks for difficult and challenging projects that require a different perspective. When an investigation comes to a standstill or dead end, an empath can come into the scene to give additional information again guiding and leading the investigation.
Finding Missing or Abducted Persons
In a missing persons case, such as a runaway teen, kidnapped or abducted child, an empath can “read” the energy of an object or room (as much as a person reads the words from a book) to discern the next steps by guiding the investigation. Holding a hand over a picture on a phone, clothing or just being in the room or area where the abduction took place can provide valuable information for officers or search parties. How a pet has died, where their final resting place was can also be determined. This practice is a form of perception called psychometry. In the past, I’ve been able to identify the origin of family antiques for the purposes of recording ancestral information. In one particular instance, the ring of a deceased person was used to determine their cause of death.
Discernment to Sense Threats
Providing discernment and wisdom, we are the first to sense a threat, and zero in on the area, and in some instances the person or group where the threat is originating. Empaths have the ability to become increasingly aware and sensitive to the changing emotions in a room and sense a shift, picking up a person’s “mild annoyance” to an alarming “threat to the congregation” requiring imminent intervention by security and law enforcement. It takes practice to accurately hone sensitivities, and identify all the gifts that help you and others to stay safe.
We can turn this ability on and off, especially when we need rest and relaxation. We aren't always on, reading people, situations or energies. However, if there is a threat, that will come through and the empath can lead people to a safe place or direct security to the threat to handle.
