To foresee the future, would mean being able to warn people when we see them walking a destructive path. Having the ability to guide and lead a person to make different choices, to prevent slips, to forego the faulty investment, to get help to manage their anger, refrain from drinking, to stop behaving recklessly in their intimate affairs and in their business decisions, is the difference in a life well lived versus one lived in fear, angst and criminality.

There’s only so much a person can do. One bad decision leads to another, causing a financial disaster. Learning from the mistakes of others, we see how destructive gossip is, how others can drive a wedge between two people, creating a fraud triangle in which extortion, jealousy and pathological narcissism evade. The influence of an evil mind can have far reaching effects that can lead a person on a path to criminality. Some see it as a way of escape, yet they can’t seem to get out from under it. They lose their high-profile job, their reputation, their business, their family – all due to a drug addiction. They gamble the family assets away, leaving a wake of chaos and confusion.

One option is to go into that abyss with them. Will they find the answers they are searching for so desperately? To be honest, the answers are laying right there. They have to choose to see them. Acknowledge them. Face them. They have to ignore the delusions they created with their mind in order to see the depth of truth. It’s challenging to face the consequences of their decisions. Especially when so much has been done to break someone’s else’s spirit. What we see here is insight into the lengths an individuals will go to to bring someone down. What they don’t understand is, this person is a survivor. This mentality has kept them alive. Unfortunately, living like this for decades has taken a toll. The pit in which they’ve been buried becomes their tomb. Through their own willpower and supernatural strength from God, will they rise from the ashes like the Phoenix.

Not everyone rises.

Family, church friends, colleagues and strangers can only look on as the person self-destructs. In his attempt to destroy another spirit, he has only destroyed himself. What’s left? The people who survived the aftermath – the spouse and kids. What do they have to look forward to? In some instances, a foreclosed home, now with a homeless family. The man leaves a note: “I depleted every asset and left you without any money. You will be destitute and poor.”

The man, known to the family as the Grinch, finds himself knocking on heaven’s door, roaring and pounding, “Open the door!” The door is made of silver. It has a resilient quality. No pounding with his fists will get him through that door.

This was a lesson.
He wakes to the bright lights of the hospital room.
His second chance just arrived.
